There's a back room that only opens at night. On the table, a pentacle. On the other side, someone is waiting.

RITUAL is an occult horror card game in the spirit of Balatro. Every night you summon a Presence: you have eight invocations to gather the Power it demands, playing Arcana and Relics on the pentacle. But every card is paid for with Sanity, and Sanity almost never comes back. The less you have left, the more the table shakes, the more the room whispers… and the more the cards lie to you.

RITUAL is a free download for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit).

1. Click Download Now. A window will ask if you'd like to support the game: you can leave a donation, or click No thanks, just take me to the downloads to get it for free.
2. Click Ritual-Windows to download the game (a zip of about 54 MB).
3. Extract the zip (right-click → Extract All…) and open Ritual.exe.

Seeing a blue “Windows protected your PC” warning? That's normal and nothing to worry about. It shows up with almost every new indie game, because the program isn't signed with a paid certificate (they cost hundreds a year). It doesn't mean there's a virus. Click More info and then Run anyway. It only happens the first time.

If you'd rather not see any warning, install it with the itch.io app, which also keeps it up to date.

🕯 What awaits you

• A pentacle that multiplies. Consecrate Relics on its five points and the lines between them catch fire. Two of the same suit seal their line.
• Sanity is the price. On the edge of madness, the target you see may not be the real one, the cards bleed and something starts tugging at your mouse.
• Cards that rot. Some cards and objects corrupt the others. A card with blood on it no longer does what it says.
• The Back Room. Spend what you have left on new cards, cursed objects for your altar, or a sip of water to clear your head.
• Three Presences, each with its own rules and special ending, and pacts for those who want to suffer more.
• Your own deck. The cards you buy stay in the tarot catalogue, and you build each night's deck from them.
• A tutorial that teaches you to play in one short night.

🌐 Languages

English and Spanish. The game starts in English; you can switch it in Options → Game → Idioma · Language.
